As DUFF members prepare for attending Golden Growler Homebrewing Challenge, there are several items that may require your attention.

First, Jim Kinsman would like to have an estimate of the number of beers that he will be transporting to Wausau. You can read and respond to his post here.

Lisa has passed along the following information about room accommodations at the Courtyard Marriott next door to the Hereford and Hops. Notice: you have only until the 21st for these rates. About two more days!

The Hereford and Hops Steakhouse & Brewpub, where the competition is being held, was founded in 2000 and has an annual production of 850 barrels of beer (about the same as Moose Jaw). They have won the Silver Medal at Great American Beer Festival for their Dunkel Lager and their Blond Bock in 2002 & 2003 respectively under former brewmaster Kevin Eichelberger. The current brewmaster is Kevin Bowen. Some of their staple beers include: a golden ale - Whitetail ale, in Irish red - Cleary Red, a stout - Black Springs, and a german Pilsner - Piva Bohemia. Perhaps we could send some empty growlers along to the competion for some sample at the May meeting?

FRIDAY, APRIL 18
7pm - 9pm - Reception for judges/stewards/volunteers/entrants/sponsors ONLY
Free homebrew and munchies
Rub elbows with sponsors, professional brewers, and other homebrew fanatics!


SATURDAY, APRIL 19
8am - Breakfast for judges/stewards/volunteers (provided by Hereford & Hops)
9am - 10:30am - 1st flight judging
11am 12:00 pm - 2nd flight judging
12pm - lunch for judges/stewards/volunteers/sponsors (provided by Hereford & Hops)
12:30pm - Best of Show judging
1pm - Brewery Tours begin (1 every half hour. Last tour at 1:30pm.) Open to public.
2pm - Q&A with Herefor & Hops Brewmaster, Kevin Bowen. Open to public.
3pm - Awards Ceremony. Open to public.
1st thru 3rd place winners across all 7 categories
